Damage control - Last minute plans for Valentine's Day

Valentine's Day. Love it or hate it. But can you ignore it? Probably not. But if you are reading this, we are assuming that you've just goofed up and forgotten to plan for it.

No matter how much your girl tells you that Valentine’s Day is no big deal, doing something nice on this day is a brilliant way to score some brownie points.

So if you’ve not planned anything till now, you still have the next few hours to do something nice. Here are some ideas –

Recreate your first date – Do you remember how both of you met for the first time? It may have been in college or at work or randomly at a nightclub. Take her to the same place, ask the same questions, and get to know each other all over again. It will show her that you aren’t just thoughtful, you actually do remember things about your relationship. Plus, you’ve already done it once, recreating it should be easy.

Plan something bigger – A great way to hide that you’ve actually forgotten to plan for the V-Day is make it up by planning something for the coming weekend. A weekend getaway is always, always a good idea. Tell her it was supposed to be a surprise but you didn’t want to see her sad on the day of love. Pick a bunch of flowers and write a sweet note, may be an itinerary of what’s planned for the weekend, in great detail. And then, see your luck turn.

Cook for her – This one never gets old. Even if your only skill in the kitchen is how to break an egg in a pan, do it. But do it romantically. Whether it is bowl of two-minute noodles or an elaborate Italian dinner, make sure you do it with some scented candles, a nicely set dinner table and her favourite flowers. Do it right, and you will go directly back into her good books.

These are the quickest and easiest ways to do damage control. Have you ever goofed up earlier? Comment and tell us how you rectified that mistake.
