The Most Talked About Bollywood Celebrity Weddings
An opulent lifestyle is one of the many attributes of Bollywood celebrities; B-towners, without a doubt, define luxury and style. So obviously when it’s their ‘big day’ it has to be beyond grand.
A guest list that boasts of the who’s who of the industry, gorgeous locations, celebrity chefs, lavish spreads, made-to-order fineries for the bride and the groom, designer jewelery, utterly breathtaking decor and immense media coverage — B-town denizens’ nuptials take the concept of ‘the big fat Indian wedding’ to new heights with their jaw-dropping splendor and flamboyance.
We decided to round-up a list of celebrity weddings from the past few years that were not only stunning but also became the talk of the town.
Shahid Kapoor & Mira Rajput
When Bollywood’s most eligible bachelor decided to finally get hitched last year, he made certain that it became the most memorable event of the year. And believe us; Shahid Kapoor’s wedding to Delhi-based Mira Rajput was just like a fairytale dream.
The wedding celebrations ran over a few days and included all traditional rituals like the haldi, sangeet, mehendi, chooda and kaleeray. Invites were exclusively designed, cute sign boards welcomed the guests, the wedding cake was mouthwateringly delicious, the décor was elegant and beautiful — every small detail of the wedding was fine-looking and of course the bride and the groom dazzled in the finest attires ever.
The wedding took place in Delhi, followed by a lavish reception in Mumbai which was attended by all the industry folks.
The ceremony which was meant to be a hush-hush affair caught so much attention with its grand celebrations that it broke the internet.
Bipasha Basu & Karan Singh Grover
The sultry diva and the television’s blue eyed boy gave a new meaning to their relationships by deciding to turn their one-year love affair into a commitment for life.
Bipasha and Karan made their love official this year and tied the knot on April 30 in a beautiful traditional Bengali wedding. And though the wedding was an intimate affair the star-studded reception and pre-wedding celebrations were completely out-of-this-world.
Tagged as the Monkey Wedding, the revelry kick started with a rollicking bachelorette party followed by traditional ceremonies like a pooja and mehendi. And while the pooja was closed affair with only family and few dear friends, the mehendi function was indeed grand.
Juhu’s Villa 69 was transformed into a rose-hued dreamland for the event and the Alone actress was a sight to behold in a rose-print Anushree Reddy lehenga complete with floral headgear and pearly pink nails.
As for the wedding on April 30, Bipasha glowed in a typical Bengali bridal ensemble by Sabyasachi, which she later changed to an all-gold look by the same and decked herself with stunning Jaipur Jewels. The wedding reception at St Regis followed right after the vows and was brimming with stars like Amitabh, Aishwarya and Abhishek Bachchan, Sonam Kapoor, Ranbir Kapoor, Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, Sanjay Dutt, Sushmita Sen, Preity Zinta, Dia Mirza, Dino Morea, Abhay and Bobby Deol, Genelia and Riteish Deshmukh among others.
The customized pink and white wedding cake based on the monkey wedding theme with 2 monkey cake toppers was the cutest cake you would have ever seen.
Needless to say, we still can’t get this gorgeous wedding of our minds.
Riteish Deshmukh & Genelia D'Souza
Looking so perfectly carved out for each other, growing together as friends and emerging as life partners, this couple reinstates the belief that someone somewhere is made for you. And their wedding was a perfect model of inter-religion marriage.
Right from Maharashtrian rituals to Mangalorean Catholic rituals, Riteish and Genelia’s wedding was a perfect amalgamation of both the traditions and cultures. And it goes without saying that two weddings mean double the fun.
The grand five-day celebrations began with a flamboyant Sangeet ceremony at Taj Lands End, Bandra and the highlight of the event was a performance by the couple on the Marathi song ‘Kombdi pallali’. Other rituals included ‘umbracha paani’ an east Indian ceremony, roce, and haldi.

The Saifeena collaboration was a registered marriage with Randhir Kapoor, Babita and Sharmila Tagore being the witnesses.
The royal and grand wedding celebrations followed at a city hotel, then in Delhi and then at Pataudi Palace in Haryana. The couple’s lavish dresses to traditional spreads and authentic delicacies were indeed Nawaabi grandeur and the mark of a modern and liberal era.

This was followed by the mehendi and the reception party at Taj Lands End. Well, the event was so grand and each guest was treated to such lavishness that they didn’t stop talking about the wedding even much after the big day.
Arpita Khan & Aayush Sharma
One wedding that not just ruled the news but also broke the internet was that of Bhaijaan’s darling baby sister – Arpita Khan to industrialist Aayush Sharma.
It was a wedding of sorts with its own Instagram account being updated from time to time with live feeds and clips from the dream wedding. The crème de la crème of the country was invited including the politicians, Bollywood folks, cricketers, and the south film fraternity.
The Khan brothers left no stone unturned to raise the bar of the perfect wedding. The venue being Falaknuma Palace for the vaarmaala, mehendi, sangeeth, wedding vows etc., everything was done in style and personified elegance.
