A Guy’s Guide To Being The Perfect Valentine
It’s Valentine’s Day and you have to take your girl out. Let the stars in her eyes shine even brighter by being the perfect date.
Spot on: Pick the right venue. It doesn’t have to be five-star, but your regular haunt in your neighbourhood won’t do either. Plus, cater to her tastes. If she likes Asian, take her to a nice Ramen place, and don’t take the vegetarian to a grill restaurant.
Dress right: Make the effort to look good. Groom yourself and wear something smart, leaving the flip-flops for lounging at home. Smell good, but don’t empty the whole bottle of perfume on yourself.
Table manners: Allow the lady to order first and don’t push you choices on her. Don’t be a picky eater either. There’s nothing more awkward than a girl with a hearty appetite having to dine with a guy who’s counting calories.
Glass act: A drink or two can help you relax and enjoy the evening. The girl who loves the finer things of life won’t say no to a glass or three of bubbly. If you’re ordering the cocktails, choose flavours you know she’ll enjoy.
Say it in style: Conversations can make or break a date. Be a good listener. Talk about things that are of mutual interest. A Valentine’s Day dinner is not the best time to bring up your ex or how indispensable you are at work.
The decent diner: Be nice to serving staff. Everyone likes nice guys. Pick up the tab and tip generously. And who knows, you might just be invited to her place for a nightcap!
