The Indian Premier League is witnessing its seventh season. This small experiment by the BCCI to imitate the English Premier League has yielded it some exciting returns. Well technically, we really can’t compare these two formats, considering they are from two different institutions of sports. But then they do carry their own set of similarities that just cannot be ignored.
To begin with, the amount of moolah that both these tournaments make in is tremendous. IPL might be a relatively new format but it has gained a spot as one of the richest sporting events in the world. However, the question which arises is, will the Indian Premier League be able to create a buzz similar in magnitude to that of the English Premier League?
Well, from the way things are turning out in the tournament,it is definitely here to stay. The game brings huge amounts of money to everybody associated with it and this money just seems to multiply, with every passing year
IPL has also earned the loyalty and loveofcricket fans the world over. IPL as a brand is still defining itself, as a whole. The same cannot be said about the English Premier League. Here every element is a brand in itself, from the league to the players and even the clubs.Comparisons aside, we now have our very own domestic tournament which we can enjoy it to the fullest. So why waste time pondering when you can be cheering!
