Visiting Pune - A Guide For The Travelling Cricket Fan

Cricket fever is riding high. Fans travel to different cities to watch the matches and witness the live madness. If you are in a different city and have travelled far enough to watch the match you might want to stay on a day or two and get a local flavour of what the city has to offer. If any fans manage to make their way to Pune city, then here are some fun things to do before or after the match!

Sunday Brunch – The best way to kick start a Sunday is to enjoy a lazy Brunch before. Pune has multiple options serving great combinations of food and alcohol. From set menu’s to al la carte along with special rates on alcoholic drinks it’s the ideal setting before heading to the stadium and cheering your team on. Special mention is the brunch at Arc Asia, High Spirits, and Out Of The Blue.

Visit the re opened German Bakery – The famed German Bakery was always a hot-spot for teenagers and even families to grab a quite bite and coffee. Unfortunately in 2010 it was the target of bomb blasts in the city and that was the end of an era. Fortunately, the bakery has re opened and is now the ideal place to visit to not only get some delicious treats but also visit a part of Pune history.

Stand up comedy or a Live gig at High Spirits- Pune city has a great club culture which promotes live musical acts and stand up comedians. A lot of restaurants promote live bands and in fact some places like The High Spirits introduce a lot of local as well as international talent and different music genre with various artists like Pentagram, Gary Lawyer, Mumford and Sons, Raghu Dixit Project, Dualist Inquiry and many more who have performed there. Along with their live performances they also encourage the budding comedy scene and introduce a lot of stand up comedians and improv sketch artists. A night of good live music or some rib tickling comedy is the perfect way to end a good day.

Shopping at Koregaon Park and Amanora Town centre- Rest assured that the city has plenty to offer addictive shoppers. From the popular M.G Rd and Koregaon Park, both dotted with shops and snack joints to the more recent burst of malls that has sprouted all over the city there are plenty of options. Don’t let this small town fool you; its abundant shops and boutiques can rival any metro city. Mention worthy places are the Amanora Town Centre and Phoenix Shopping Mall.

Adlabs Imagica- If you're in the mood to try something completely different to entertain yourself other than what we've recommended so far, then maybe a trip to an amusement theme park is right up your alley! India's very own Disneyland has recently opened up on the Mumbai -Pune expressway and is a treat for kids and adults alike. From roller coasters, rides, entertainment zones and restaurants and cafes, it is the centre of 'amusement' and entertainment for the entire family. If you've managed to make it to Pune city, we highly recommend you take a little detour and enjoy Adlabs Imagica!
