Pub Crawl in Bandra

Previous Next

A night out in Bandra is an embarrassment of riches. How do you choose amongst the dozens of chic restaurants, relaxed pubs, and dance floors whose DJs never seem to get tired of playing the music you love? Luckily, pub crawls were invented for this very reason, and Bandra is the perfect place for one.

Start out in Toto’s Garage, where the post-work crowd is unwinding in the informal yet bustling atmosphere over a few pitchers and a plate of tandoori chicken, while the body of a VW Beetle hangs overhead. Located at the Pali Junction in Bandra West, it is the perfect place to start a pub crawl.

When everyone has been sufficiently libated, move on to The Big Nasty in the Shatranj Napoli building, which, appropriately, is in keeping with the industrial, no-fuss ethos of Toto’s. Metal and grunge might dominate the décor, but the music is eclectic and always good. The bar is well-stocked with everything from beer to cognac, but it would be a mistake to leave here without ordering at least one Nasty Mary.

The night is wearing on, and now it’s time to cut loose a little. Head over to Khar to H2O, less known than some other names in the area, but unfailingly good. H2O is a multi-level, multi-themed venue, where the music is just what you need to get those dance muscles working. The separate spaces ensure that whatever your mood, you’ll find what you’re looking for in this off-the-map gem.

Once you’ve danced yourself out, it’s time for a change in pace, and Firangi Paani on Linking Road is your answer. This British-style pub is all about good food and good beer, and your favourite classic rock on the speakers. Then, if you’re still going strong, head to Bonobo, down the street, whose mellow atmosphere is a great way to end the night. Karan Joseph, a Bandra-based musician, agrees. “I love Bonobo because it is one of the most relaxed, chilled out places in Bandra,” he says. Not a bad way to end the perfect pub crawl.
