Bloody Mary Fondue Spiked With Wasabi

Previous Next

Happy 2015 everyone!!! To start this year I bring to you an exclusive #ChefHarsh recipe which I am sure you guys have never ever imagined before, Bloody Mary Fondue spiked with Wasabi. This thought came to my head when I was asked to create dishes with vodka in it. Now let's be honest, we all hate the cocktail, Bloody Mary, even I do. The only way this Mary could get some lovin' is when it met cheese and the rest is history.

Get your scribble pads out because this one is going to make you dip yourself into a snugglefest in the ever comforting weather of January.

Cooking time: 45 mins

Serves 4-6 persons

Ingredients:

3 medium sized tomatoes, blanched, peeled and cut into quarters

½ onion, finely chopped

2 cloves of garlic, minced

2 tbsp olive oil

120 ml Smirnoff Vodka

A dash of Tobasco and Worcestershire sauce

½ cup of cream

A dash of wasabi paste.

½ cup of grated Parmesan cheese

Black pepper (freshly crushed) to taste

Salt to taste.

Crusty bread or breadsticks to serve

Method:

Heat a pan and add 2 tbsp of olive oil to it. Add the chopped onions and sauté till the turn translucent. Ensure they do not brown.

Add the minced garlic and sauté for a minute.

Add the blanched tomato quarters, vodka, Worcestershire sauce and Tobasco sauce. Allow it to simmer uncovered for 30-45 minutes on a medium flame, stirring occasionally. Once you notice that it has turned thick remove it off the fire.

Add the wasabi paste to the cream and mix well.

Add the wasabi cream and grated Parmesan cheese to the tomatoes in the pan and mix well. Whip up the mixture in the pan with a hand blender till it turns out to be smooth and fondue like consistency.

Pour this mixture in a fondue pot and allow it to keep it warm. Dip in chunks of crusty breads and bite into redefined comfort food.

Call someone special over, open that bottle of red wine, play a movie and snuggle up, cause from the first to the last bite of this fondue will require this ambience for a 360 degree experience. The vodka in it is gonna give you a kick and with the wasabi, is gonna be a high flying double kick. Try it out and you will know it. Stay Hungry!
