5 ways you could strike out on Valentine’s day

It’s that time of the year when couples celebrate their love and singles celebrate the fact that they are single and won’t mind mingling at all. But the question is what exactly is Valentine’s Day celebration?

It doesn’t matter if you’ve been in a relationship for months or years, this day and your anniversary of course could always get tricky. It starts with "Don’t forget about this day", mark it on your calendar if you have to. If you constantly wish to be surprised by her on special days or in general, then it’s obvious she’ll expect the same in return (even if she’s less vocal about it).

Now, if you wish to remain on her good graces this day, there are certain things that you simply are not supposed to buy or do for your beloved on this particular day.

1. Order in something for dinner doesn’t mean pizza

You may think it’s the cheapest/romantic way to celebrate at home (keeping her feelings and your budget on mind). Your intentions might be pure but that is just a major turn off. Cook something for her. Be a part of the kitchen life, embrace the cheese factor of the occasion and make something delicious for her. Nothing says “I am considerate” like a man cooking something for his woman.

2. Teddy Bears and Chocolates

Yes, they are supposed to be part of the tradition but now it only says “It’s just another day, but I’m still buying you something because that’s what I should do”. It shows lack of effort, care and frankly it’ll just spoil the day. Be creative; make something fun out of that packet full of chocolate bars. She’s not a teenager, she’s a woman. This day will always be a big deal.

3. Buying clothes/ cheap jewellery

Never buy clothes/cheap jewellery for her until and unless you are absolutely sure and until she’s accompanying you. If it makes her look and feel unflattering, it just won’t be fair to anyone and things might turn ugly without even realising it. Instead if you have something on your mind, take her to a clothing/ jewellery store and tell her what you’re thinking. You never know, she might agree; plus it’ll show that you care enough to have her opinion when you are unsure. Points for you and your relationship.

4.Games night out:

It is her night more than yours. Take her out for dinner to her favourite place or somewhere that holds some special sentiment to you two. Thinking of taking her out for dinner at a sports bar, watching football or cricket tournament and trying to be sneaky about how it’ll fulfil both your purposes? Don’t think for a second that she won’t see right through you. Apparently those detective senses tend to become more heightened in this time of the year.

5. The Perfect Day theory:

You go out on a romantic cozy dinner, you hold hands, talk, reminisce and enjoy about how far you’ve come together. Everything goes perfectly, just like you’ve planned for her; everything good needs “The Perfect Night” conclusion. And that is where you could strike out if you make a wrong move. If movie night is the way you want your night to end, never opt for an action/murder mystery genre. You may like it, she may occasionally but that doesn’t mean she’d want to watch blood and gore today. Shedding your machismo for one night and opting for a romantic number instead is the perfect way to end the night.

After all it is your duty to fulfil Saint Valentine’s wishes. His noble intentions originated this day in order to celebrate love. Why spoil it with your lethargic and typical guy approach?
