The 5 Point Guide To Denims

Denim is that piece of garment that ensures you don’t have to be enslaved to fashion. Simply because it’s been around for centuries and the form in which it presents itself has barely undergone a change. Its style quotient however has only soared. Of course, updates have been made and we now have variations, but largely it remains the same.

This probably is the main reason why denims are such a hit with men. They are fuss free, be it with respect to wash care or while wearing them. However, even the most timeless piece in fashion undergoes a change. Meaning it's time to check your jean closet to see if you have them all. Why? Because a pair of denims can come to your rescue on all social meetings expect maybe to the red carpet. Unless, you are a rock star.

Wear to Work Jeans: Jeans is being considered as a work wear attire in most offices. This however requires some careful thought and there are rules. You cannot wear coloured jeans, skinny jeans or anything that is low waist.  Boot cut, straight fit and regular fit jeans are what you should be wearing to work. Team it with a solid colour shirt or a plaid one. Need to make an impression at an important client meeting? Layer your ensemble with a blazer.  Wear oxfords and carry a man bag to complete your look.

The Party Pants: Celebrate the thank god it’s Friday feeling in your favourite pair of jeans. Skinny jeans loves to party so team it with a bright T-shirt or a party shirt and you are almost ready to hit your favourite club. This look can be layered with a cardigan, leather jacket, summer jacket or a hooded bomber jacket.  Your ankle length boots is just the right accoutrements to complete your look and don’t forget to dab that cologne before heading out.

Sunday Brunch: You are getting together with the family to barbeque or you’re chilling with friends enjoying a lazy brunch. Head straight to your jean closet and pull out your white denims as white denims are perfect for laid back occasions. Team this with a linen shirt, a tank T-shirt or layer the two together. Sweat shirts are also a good option. Sneakers, a bright watch, a hat and sunglasses can be used to accessorize this look.

Date Night: Saturday night is a date night? Jeans to the rescue again. A bright shirt, a trench coat, cardigans, blazers, vests made from jeans, V neck fitted t-shirt and plaid jackets are some of your best bets for date nights. Mix and match them and make it work for you. This of course, depends on the place you are taking your date to.  Accessorize with ties, bow ties, tie pins, pocket squares, a nice belt and a suave watch. Wear handmade shoes in leather to look perfectly put together.

Brotherhood of Travelling Pants: Coloured pants are your best friends while travelling. Wear them to the airport, to the museum, while dining out, while exploring a souk or site seeing. You can pretty much get away with wearing jeans every other day while travelling. Pack a coloured pair, a regular pair in blue or black and lot of sweat shirts, colourful shirts and T-shirts.
