Dressing Right For Valentine's Day

Valentine’s Day, the most romantic day of the year, is here. Whether you have a destination date, a casual night or something fancy planned make sure to wear a spiffy outfit and surprise your date even if you don’t have to.

Destination Date: If you are planning on surprising her by taking her out to a nice romantic getaway then go with a semi-formal look. It might be just the two of you on an empty island but that surely doesn't mean that you shouldn't look nice. As understanding semi formals can be quite confusing, the easiest way to dissect this would be to choose one formal piece and mix it with one casual piece. Tier it up like this for the rest of the ensemble. For example, wear a crisp formal shirt; team this with khaki chinos and a nice pair of leather shoes. Add either a jacket or a cardigan and you are good to go. Small tip to bear in mind, refrain from wearing jeans as it might make you look a lot more casual than what is required.

Fancy Dinner Date: Needless to say but, formal dressing goes best on such occasions. Looking sharp is a must. You obviously want to match your woman who is wearing her best cocktail dress. Refrain from wearing the clichéd black suit. There are so many interesting options; so experiment a little. Try a charcoal or a brown suit with matte finish. If you are in the mood to experiment a little more then go for a plaid suit with plaid trousers look but ensure that you play safe and choose the same colour. Your accessory options can be a good watch, cufflink, suspenders and of course do not forget to sport your best pair of brogues.

Staying In: If your idea of Valentine’s Day is to spend a quiet evening indoors with your loved one, do this in style. Just because you are staying indoors does not mean you open up a bottle of wine in your pajamas. But this also doesn’t mean you have to wear something elaborate either. Wear something simple and look smart. A nice pair of slacks teamed with a basic plain t-shirt. You can also wear your favorite pair of ripped jeans. Accessorize with loafers and make sure you don’t forget to smell great.

So put on you charming face, appropriate clothes and head out to have an awesome Valentine’s Day.
