Dressing Right For Spring Summer

It’s officially springtime. This means, your sweaters, cardigans and winter jackets after being dry cleaned should be hauled into your winter closets. Move on to your summer closets, as this Spring-Summer has ushered, bright colors, bold prints and haphazard patterns. Exchange heavy layers with light ones and boring shades of grey with bright shades of sunshine. Embrace the following ideas and incorporate them in your dressing. It’s time to be fashion forward.

Colourama: Colors are big this season. Be it pastels or bright tones like tangerines and crimsons. However, if you are slightly hesitant and need time to ease into this trend, try incorporating them subtly. Buy colorful wallets and move out of the black and brown zone. Colorful ties, tie pins and checkered pocket squares can be a cheerful addition to your formal work wear. Replace your old watch stripes with colored ones or ones with prints on them. For the trend curve followers however, we suggest you have a lot of fun with colors this year.

Prints: Animal prints, camo prints, plaids, geometric and the hybrid prints were all that we saw around the runways. This time not only in the ladies section but in men’s too. Wear them on bags, clothes, shoes or on accessories. Mix them together, clash them or simply wear them with another solid piece but, do ensure you do own a couple of printed elements this season. As long as you don’t throw in too many elements together, prints will work just fine for you this summer.

Chambray and gingham shirts will be your staple elements this season. They are soft, crisp and perfect for the rising temperatures. Plus, they come in a range of colors. You can team them up with shorts, jeans, khakis and slacks. You can also wear them with formal trousers for formal Fridays at work. They give a sharp finish to your look, the country club kinds. You could choose to lightly layer this with a spring jacket or maybe, with a pair of suspenders.

T-shirts in pastels: Stack up on short sleeve, cotton t-shirts in lighter shaded of pink, tan, yellow, cream and orange. To add detailing to a regular t shirt, opt for t-shirts which have misplaced pockets, mismatched collars and small prints on them. These won’t make you feel like a sweat ball and are versatile in terms of styling too.

Oxford shorts and bleached jeans: You will need at least one of each, to get by this summer in style. Wear you oxford shorts by the beach to brunch or while on a weekday getaway. The bleached jeans can be teamed with almost anything. However, to jazz up the look, team it with nautical shoes.

Grab a hat: We cannot emphasize on this enough. These utilitarian accessories will quite literarily save your skin. It’s going to be hot and this is not good news for your skin and hair. Base ball caps, fedoras and fishing hats will not only increase your swag quotient but be your shading grace too.

Shoes: Boat shoes, loafers, moccasins and colorful sneakers are ideal for a long summer day. You can wear them with or without socks. Though, we prefer if you did. There are colorful socks in a variety of spring colors that are hanging by the display windows just to adorn your feet.
