Brunch Dressing For Men
There is something about a sunny weekend that makes people want to brunch. Brunch has become a lifestyle choice aimed at socializing. So much so, that we are even using it as a verb in sentences now. Most restaurants have conveniently declared 8 AM to 2 PM as brunch hour. Unless you’re eating breakfast in bed, it is hard to miss a brunche on weekend. Since the festival holiday season is on, it is much likely that your friends and family are excited than ever about mixing breakfast and lunch together. Get your wardrobe act together and get picky about where to go and what to do. We’ve described five different brunch situations you may be in to help you choose your ensembles.
Casual- You and your gang of friends have picked a comfortable restaurant with a young crowd as your brunch spot. When the average age of the crowd is not more than 35, you are allowed to be at your casual best. Go with jeans, graphic t-shirts with abstract prints and a pair of sneakers. Or simply adorn a linen shirt in solids and team them with your favourite pair of knee length denim shorts and oxfords. Bring on the sunglasses, hats and suspenders as accessories.
Semi-Formal Look: It’s a fancy restaurant with valets in suites, chocolate fountains and chandeliers as installation art. You will need an ensemble that will not only match the place, but you will have to keep up with the crowd as well. Your safest bet? Semi-formal casual wear. As complicated as this may sound, all you really have to do is ensure you layer your chinos, formal shorts or jeans, either with a smart summer jacket or with a light cardigan. Ensure your jacket/ cardigan is fun and playful. Bright colours and bold prints can be embraced without the slightest hesitation.
Subtle Power Dressing- You have just finished a game of early morning golf and now you and your golf buds are heading to the dining area. A good idea would be to quickly alter your look. Simply layer your golf look with a light trench coat and a straw hat. Other alternatives would be to replace your polo T-shirt with a printed T-shirt. If you don’t feel like bringing out the prints, then wear a plan t-shirt and layer it with a waist coat. Shoes would of course be your formal golf wear. Wayfarers are ideal in this situation.
Barbeque Sundays- The Sunday bunch, decides to brunch at one your friend’s backyard. These brunches of course are of course cherished and one of its kind. Each one of you showcasing a culinary skill over music and beer under the shade of a gigantic backyard tree. The only thing you will have to pull out from your wardrobe will be a pair of shorts, t-shirt or a tank. You are allowed to wear flip flops, sneakers. Baseball hats. Basically here we only say no to pyjamas. So bring on the crazy accessories and the crazy clothes. Birkenstocks are allowed too!
In Bill’s Backyard: The family and an extended bit have decided to exchange notes on cousins, nieces, nephews and you’re looking forward to meet your grandma dearest too. Since this is family there is no pressure on what to wear. Keep it casual but go polished. So here is the code, no need to ever wear a jacket unless it’s the winters. Linen shirts, plain t-shirts, shorts, jeans and chinos will all work. Make ensure they are pressed, you don’t want you mother reminding you of it in the midst of gathering.
