5 Fashion Resolutions for 2014
Why do we make resolutions every New Year? Is it the side effects of free flowing alcohol on New Year’s Eve or does the dawn of a New Year make you embrace changes and resolve to a fresh start by swearing off some vices? Whatever maybe the reason, January is always a good month to break into resolutions. Every year you might have resolved to hit the gym regularly, cut down sugar intake, watch more sunrises or other personal resolutions and not seen it through but, some like the starter list provided below are much easier to keep and will ensure your style is impeccable through the year.
Wear more colors and prints: Most men tend to shy away from colors and patterns without even giving it a try. Some really hoped this trend would die and they can go back to greys and blacks. But, it’s not a trend. It’s a style and is here to stay. By allowing more colors and patterns to seep into the wardrobe you are only broadening the horizon of style, variety and variations. Start small by mixing one of these elements. Once you have broken into this, begin to experiment. Starting with accessories is a good idea.

Discover personal style: It is easy to get lost in the deluge of trends that hits you in the face season after season. Do not get hassled and pick up everything that is supposed to be “IN” or “IT”. Instead, understand your body type and study what looks good on you and what doesn’t. Take a cue from classic dressing for starters. First begin to invest in staples like a black tee, a white shirt, pair of well fitted jeans, tailored jacket and a good pair of shoes and so on. Meanwhile, discover your sense of personal style.

Be well groomed at all times: It is such a put off to see a well-dressed man in a pair of odd mismatched shoes, dirty nails or unkempt hair. Grooming should be a coherent trait and not optional. Small things like flossed teeth, fresh smelling breadth, neatly trimmed beard, pressed clothes and polished shoes to name a few can go a long way in making you look presentable. You look good when you feel good.

Do not invest in a jiffy: One of the ways to not fall into a style rut is by trying more trends along with constant recycling. However, this does not mean you pick up every single coveted piece of the season. This way you will have a wardrobe full of clothes but not necessarily the ones that would define your style. Invest in staple and basic pieces layered with some statement items. Before buying, can you quickly scan three different looks with it? If not, don’t buy.

Quality over Quantity: There is a reason why luxury stands apart and not just in terms of price tags. Good quality shows and feels good. You might not be able to build a wardrobe overnight but, if one quality item at a time is your motto over a period of time you would have collected quite an enviable collection. The thing about good quality clothes is that they last for years. This doesn’t necessarily mean a Jill Sanders or a Rohit Bal. Some high street brands offer equally good standards in clothing.
