COCKTAILS WITH A FRUITY ZING!

Many think that fruit and liquor don’t go together but then there are certain cocktails that busy this myth. With the zing of fruits and the kick of alcohol these cocktails are some of the favourites in party circles. LiveInStyle brings you a few:

1. Piña Colada

This is the perfect drink for all the pineapple lovers out there who wish to have a memorable weekend, with something more than just a regular pineapple juice. Literally meaning ‘strained pineapple’, Piña Colada is a reference to the freshly pressed and strained pineapple juice used in the drink’s preparation. Other than the sweet taste of pineapple, one will also be able to feel the creamy taste of coconut milk mixed with Captain Morgan rum and the coolness of ice, either blended or shaken with it, as per the consumer’s choice.

2. Cosmopolitan

This International Bartenders Association recipe consists of Smirnoff vodka, the sweetness of cranberry juice, the tangy taste of triple sec and freshly squeezed or sweetened lime juice. As it is usually served in a large cocktail glass, cosmopolitan is commonly mistaken to be a martini. This blush red coloured cocktail is the perfect drink to easily prepare at home to beat the summer heat.

3. Tequila Sunrise

Tequila-Sunrise

This drink resembling the colour of sunrise, as the name suggests, is the best drink to serve in an aesthetically pleasing party. This is the drink for the orange lovers as it consists of tequila, grenadine syrup and orange juice served unmixed in a tall glass. You can taste the tanginess of the orange juice in it. It is best enjoyed when served on the rocks.

4. Blue Hawaii

This tropical cocktail is the perfect mixture of sweet and sour. Made of rum, pineapple juice, curacao, sweet and sour mix, and sometimes vodka, Blue Hawaii is typically served on the rocks and is known to be pleasing to the eyes because of its beautiful colour, although sometimes it may have a green coloration due to the presence of yellow pineapple juice. The best part of this cocktail is that it is inexpensive and easy to make and is attractive to the eye.

Mixing the goodness of fruit and cocktail is an art that few can master.  So if you find someone who can make these cocktails for you or if you find a place where these are served do not miss them because they deserve to be tried.
