Three Cocktails to Kick Start your Friday Night

A cocktail is aptly defined as an alcoholic beverage comprising of two or more ingredients, of which one needs to be a spirit. From a simple Screwdriver to the sophisticated Iced Tea, each and every cocktail has a unique way to cast a spell on your mind.

These magical concoctions are not just mixtures of spirits. The straight-up Martini from James Bond movies and the Cosmos from the Sex and the City, have given cocktails a superior, glamorous identity of their own. Whether they are light highballs or strong shots, these drinks can brighten up your evening almost instantly.

This being said, if you are feeling a little adventurous and want to start your weekend with a boom then you can surely go ahead and order up one of these stiff cocktails.

Zombie

This mind numbing drink originated in the 1930s, when Don Beach made it as a cure for hangovers. However, after sipping this drink, he disappeared for a couple of days and complained of feeling like a ‘Zombie’. The original recipe is not easily available, but the ingredients used include White, Golden and Dark Rum, Apricot Brandy, pineapple juice, orange juice, lime juice and grenadine.

Black Russian

Hailing from Brussels, this strong cocktail was created by a bartender named Gustave Tops in 1949 to honour US Ambassador, Perle Mest’s visit to Luxembourg. The large measure of White Mischief Vodka gives you a strong kick and the coffee liqueur leaves behind a bitter after-taste. There are several diluted variants of this mix like the “Dirty Black Russian”, which is made by topping up the original recipe with coke.

Long Island Iced Tea

Strong and sophisticated that’s how you describe this popular sipper. The origin of this alluring concoction is somewhat disputed, but it’s relaxing effect is surely indisputable. This multi-spirit mix is made by blending Triple Sec, Light Rum, Gin, White Mischief Vodka, Tequila and sour mix. A splash of coke makes this mix delicious and easy to sip. If you are looking out for something smooth and strong, then this drink is surely the way to go.
