A Rainbow of Cocktails
Spring is the ideal time to revel in colours. Whether it is a vacation, your new spring-summer wardrobe and even the cocktail that you choose to spend your evening with, all of these can be spring perfect by being colourful. If you search beyond the mojitos and martinis, there are some beautiful, refreshing and yes, colourful cocktails to try.
In this article, we bring to you a Rainbow of Cocktails. Pick a colour, find the ingredients and be pleasantly surprised.
Violet – A Summer’s Evening
The first colour on our list is obviously, Violet. As not many fruits or vegetable sport this colour, we had to be creative and approach the beautiful and edible herb, Lavender.
- Gin – 60ml
- Lemon Juice – 20ml
- Lavenders Syrup – 20ml
- 3 dashes – Peychaud’s bitters
Shake all the ingredients together with ice. Strain this in a low-ball glass and top it up with Soda. Garnish with a sprig of fresh lavender. If you have a problem finding lavender syrup or sprigs, visit your neighborhood’s big supermarket that stocks exotic food or better, visit the nursery and invest in a plant.
Indigo – Indigo Margarita
Move over muffins, we have found a better use for blueberries.
- Tequila Blanco – 40ml
- Blue Curacao – 10ml
- Blueberry Syrup – 20ml
- Lemon Juice – 10ml
Shake all the ingredients together with ice. Strain this in a cocktail glass. Garnish with some Blueberries strung together on a toothpick. If you can’t find Blueberry Syrup, Blueberries are quite easily available at supermarkets lately.

This one is straight from our library of amazing cocktails and it will drive your blues away for sure.

Shake the liquid ingredients over ice until well frosted. Strain it into a chilled cocktail glass and dress with a spring of mint. Enjoy the chill while the world suffers sweltering heat.
Yellow – Banana Daiquiri Jello Shots
And who doesn’t love shots? Sporting the colour of happiness are these Banana Daiquiri Jello Shots.

Stir thoroughly, ensuring the gelatin is dissolved. Add the rum, banana liqueur and food colouring. Stir thoroughly. Pour into shot glasses. Refrigerate until the liquid sets. (At least 2 hours, but overnight refrigeration is recommended). Serve cold.
Orange – Southern Orange
It cannot get anymore orange-ier that this. If you love the fruit, you will most definitely love this cocktail as well.
Mix the first four ingredients together well and chill until required. When ready to serve pour measures into chilled tumblers or glasses filled with ice cubes and top up with ginger ale.
