Celebrity marriages appear to be falling apart all around us and yet there are a few shining lights who keep the intuition looking both viable and desirable. On our shores, Yash and Avanti Birla offered up a pleasant surprise by renewing their March 2 wedding vows in an intimate ceremony in Rishikesh, where they own a residence. We hear only a handful of friends and family were present to witness the event, with familiar faces like Natasha and Adar Poonawalla and Roohi Jaikishan being amongst them. “Now our vows are more spiritual because we have a deeper understanding of things and we are both more spiritual now,” Yash is believed to have said, while explaining the decision to renew his vows.
Further West, music icon Rod Stewart is all set to follow suit with Penny Lancaster next year. The 71-year-old legend and his 44-year-old model wife married in 2007 and will celebrate their tenth wedding anniversary in much the same way as Yash and Avanti chose to celebrate their twenty-fifth anniversary. Yet, unlike the Birlas, Rod and Penny are jetting off to Italy, to a have a “re-run” of their original wedding day.
“We are going to do what we did 10 years ago and go down to Italy with all the same friends and do it all over again,” rock star Rod confirms. A renewal of vows is a bold move by any standard and one we heartily support!
