Rajkummar Rao is a fabulous actor, we all know that. Right from his first feature film – Love Sex Aur Dhokha to his recent release Bareilly Ki Barfi, Rajkummar Rao has infused a new life to his characters and nailed every act of his. The actor has always played bold and never shied away from going that extra mile to get into the skin of his characters.
But recently the actor has truly stunned one and all with his bold move for Ekta Kapoor’s new web series, which sees him in the role of freedom fighter – Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose.
Rajkummar Rao is known to go through extreme physical transformation for his films. He recently did it for Trapped and BehenHogiTeri too, but this time around the actor has done something, which not many actors would do dare to do. Rajkummar Rao, who had slogged for hours in gym to make a chiselled body for BehenHogiTeri has not only gained weight to carry a paunch for his part in Bose Dead/Alive but has also gone half-bald to play Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose.
While the actor could have easily opted for a wig, the perfectionist that he is, Rajkummar chose to shave his head to play the part. Now ain’t that commendable?
The actor posted a collage of his transformation on his social media, showing the change in his physique in the last two films — Trapped and Behen Hogi Teri, and the web series Bose Dead/Alive, and it was indeed jaw dropping.
Rajkummar posted the picture and captioned it, “Building a character. Nothing gives me more high than the process of exploring someone else’s life on screen.” (sic)
Stating that the physical transformation was no big deal, Rajkummar Rao spoke about the real preparation for the role, “I read every possible account of Bose and his journey. Thankfully, a lot of material is available. A few documentaries had archival footage of him. Those clips helped me understand his body language and voice.”
Bose Dead/Alive creator Hansal Mehta is all praises for Rajkummar. He said, “I marvel at his dedication. His transformation is never just physical. Even here, he immersed himself in understanding Bose. I am hopeful that the show will make our countrymen more informed about one of our most charismatic heroes.”
Well, we are mighty impressed by his bold move, and wish him all the best for the project.
