The most glam stars on the VIVO IPL circuit
Cricket and glamour go hand in hand, especially when it’s super-entertaining VIVO IPL season. Here are the most glamorous of them all – who bring their bold attitude and their yaari for teams and fans to packed cricket stadia:
Shah Rukh Khan
His fans number in the hundreds of thousands and he’s played a fan on screen, too. But it’s on the IPL circuit that King Khan, owner of the Kolkata Knight Riders, turns into the ultimate sports fan – passionate, committed to his team and with a superb sense of sportsmanship.
SRK who’s spirited cheering on of the KKR players from the box has made for many an interesting photo op and much TV footage is without doubt the numero uno yaar of his team. His bold, larger-than-life presence and superstardom certainly fuel the performances of the men in purple during the IPL tournament.
But, most importantly, he embraces the true philosophy of cricket and, indeed, any sport and is willing to be as supportive when the team loses. Here’s what he tweeted after the KKR defeat at the hands of the Gujarat Lions, for instance: “Bad night for the Knights at the office. Well played GL. A team sticks together beyond the wins & losses. Good to be with the boys in Kolkata.” Is that asli yaari, or what!
She’s the pretty face of the Punjab King’s XI team and no one’s complaining. The Bollywood actress, known for her bubbly, vivacious ways, is owner of the team and takes her job very seriously. Clad in bright glad rags she scarcely misses a match and even managed to keep up with the cricket in the midst of her marriage.
What’s more she has the bold attitude it takes to be a woman in the midst of a man’s game. She gets on famously with her team members and has an especially good rapport with captain George Bailey and is also friends with David Miller. Talk about cricket’s ability to foster camaraderie and some cool yaari moments.
When it comes to good looks and glamour, Bollywood-style Hrithik Roshan is in a league of his own. The IPL entertainment machine is always churning out super acts with the big stars of Bollywood ad Hrithik has been one of the star performers. He closed the last season’s opening ceremony with some of the jaw-dropping moves he’s known for.
The bold and beautiful dancer has been signed up by the Mumbai Indians as their brand ambassador and he’s been out there, cheering on the team and expressing his bonding and yaari attitude with the cricketers.
And, naturally, he’s gyrated for the cause of the team. Hrithik shows off some of his super moves in ‘Duniya Hila Denge Hum, the theme song of the Mumbai Indians – an anthem with which the star and his team hope to shake up the world.
He’s Khiladi No.1 and naturally a big hit on the cricket circuit where star power and a bold attitude are the things to flaunt. No wonder then that Akshay Kumar has been roped in as brand ambassador for the Delhi Daredevils, the capital’s IPL team. The popular and versatile actor – whose roles span the gamut from slapstick comedy to action and intense portrayals – is now a frequent presence in the VIP stands when his team is out there batting or bowling.
Akshay Kumar’s pan-India appeal and his super stardom make him a perfect brand ambassador for the Delhi Daredevils. Also, the actor is known for his focus on fitness and his discipline – qualities which all cricketers must aspire to as well. So, not surprisingly, he’s both role model and yaari dost to the new breed of young cricketers.
