It takes hard work to bag an Academy Award, a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and a Golden Globe — not to mention being acknowledged by ‘Forbes’ magazine as one of the most bankable actors of all time. It’s no wonder then that the perennially-busy Matt Damon needs a pause.
‘The Martian’ star does want to go off into space, but an intergalactic adventure isn’t quite his idea of the perfect pause. “I’m not one of these guys who wants to go colonise Mars in the first wave of people,” Matt laughs, when asked if an interplanetary picnic of sorts would be high on his real-life to-do list. In fact, the dapper Damon confesses that his concept of a pause is a whole lot simpler. “I love being with my kids,” says the father of four, “but you can attest to the fact that you would take a day alone now or then if you could get it,” says Matt.
With nothing in particular on the agenda, Matt would be happy to unwind and relax in silence; but he is categorical that his pause would come with a time limit. “I wouldn’t want to be alone for more than a day or two… I think a day would be good. You kind of re-set, re-charge,” says the star, who finds karaoke to be surprisingly relaxing. Belting out tunes after a hard day’s work wouldn’t work for us, but whatever floats his boat!
