MasterChef contestant Sarah Todd’s inspiring journey from model to restaurateur
Following your passion can mean dropping a lucrative career to find another foothold in the world — one that makes you truly happy. It can also mean travelling across continents to do so. Case in point is former MasterChef Australia contestant Sarah Todd, who once lived in London and worked full-time as a fashion model, until she discovered that her true calling lay in the food industry.
“I’ve always been a massive foodie,” the leggy lass confesses, while recounting tales of a time when she walked the runway for Gucci and did photo-shoots for swimwear brands like Seafolly. “I’ve had so many amazing experiences as a model,” says Sarah, “but cooking gives me immense pleasure.”
Sarah’s passion to paycheck journey has taken her from Europe to Australia (where she made her way into the MasterChef house in 2014) and now the former model calls India her home too. Since 2015, Sarah has operated a 250-seater restaurant in Goa (called Antares) to much acclaim.
From exploring Portuguese mansions to catching crabs, Sarah is currently living the dream in Vagator, while she follows her passion for food. With a TV show that explores Goa’s hidden gems (‘Serve it like Sarah’) on air and a new book (titled ‘The Healthy Model Cookbook’) out now as well, Sarah Todd’s success story is certainly a ‘passion to paycheck’ inspiration!
