Of the many amazing posts to hit social media on Women’s Day, Rraj Kaushal’s heartfelt message (about his hope to adopt a daughter with wife Mandira Bedi) was perhaps the most poignant. There’s no better way to retell this tale than in Rraj’s own words, so here’s what he wrote:
“An honest appeal this Women’s Day. My son Vir needs a little sister. Vir ‘ji’ as the name suggests means older brother. He turns 6 in June. We always wanted a little sister for him. Since Mandira and I got married we always wanted to have one and adopt one. And this lil princess who we have already named “TARA”, will be the star in our eyes. We have been through enough adoption procedures but don’t want a new born. We want and need an angel aged 2 to 4 years. Any caste. Any color. Any creed. An Indian child from any corner of our beautiful country. We promise you she will have all the privileges that Vir has and never will our Tara ever feel that she is not part of our family. Please help us. Share this so that we can get our Tara home for Vir. After all every brother deserves a star sister. Please help complete our family.”
The decision to share their cherished dream with the world (via Facebook), made Mandira nervous. “I fear that talking about it will slim our chances further,” she confessed, not long after the post had received over two hundred comments. Of course, with days to go before Rraj and Mandira become ineligible to adopt a child in their preferred age group, reaching out to as many people as possible may just open some unexpected doors.
We know first-hand that this is a couple with love to give, so we can only hope their bold move pays off. This is a dream that deserves to come true.
