How a pause helped Wayne Rooney bounce back stronger

Wayne Rooney

Over the course of his 12-year career with Manchester United, Wayne Rooney has had plenty of cause to celebrate. His mantra has been to work hard and play hard and he’s been known to romance the pause with as much vigour as he attacks the opposition when he’s out on the football field.

There’s a lot to learn from Rooney’s approach to life, though today we’re choosing to focus only on his ability to let the world wait, while he regroups and recharges himself. Back in June, after England’s crushing Euro 2016 defeat at the hands of Iceland, Wayne and wife Coleen jetted off to Spain for a holiday. Despite the loss that was weighing him down at the time, Rooney rocked his vacay — kicking back on a luxury £120k-a-week yacht off the island of Formentera, with a bunch of his buddies. Taking to the sea on high-speed jet skis, Wayne enjoyed the water while Coleen sipped on wine and soaked up some sun.

Featuring three bedrooms, the 82-foot yacht was a marvel and Wayne appeared to relish it to the fullest. Perhaps it was this very pause that prepared him for another season at the world’s most popular football club, where he’s already shining silverware with a Community Shield win — not to mention his goal against AFC Bournemouth last week. More power to the pause, we say!
