How the Bachchans lit up the night this festive season

Perhaps it was planned as added outdoor décor for the Bachchan Diwali party, but Amitabh Bachchan and family went a wee bit further and lit up the lane around their Mumbai home this year. Residents of the posh Juhu neighbourhood have been raving about the green and white paper kandeels that appeared a few days before Diwali and were taken down on November 2. “They were gorgeous,” said one JVPD resident, while another said they added extra sparkle as a serpentine queue of Bollywood stars made their way to Jalsa for the season’s brightest Diwali bash!

While everyone from Shah Rukh Khan and Sanjay Dutt to Katrina Kaif and Vidya Balan dropped by to share in the festivities with Aishwarya, Abhishek and the senior Bachchans, this year Bollywood’s next-gen shone bright too; with both Saif Ali Khan’s kids and Shah Rukh’s daughter Suhana in attendance as well.

It was a colourful night and this isn’t a reference reserved only for the gorgeous clothes on display, but new bride Bipasha Basu did make an unexpected statement by opting to wear a black sari to the Bachchan bash. Husband Karan Singh Grover and BFF Rocky S joined her in matching black ensembles and together the trio took tonnes of pictures for their Instagram pages — and rocked the look too, if we may say so.

But back to the kandeels that inspired this post. There are many ways to share the light on Diwali and literally lighting up their neighbourhood is only one small example of how the Bachchans contribute. With the Big B sharing his illuminating thoughts on social media all year round, often the world is brighter for it!
