How Anushka fought her fear and played a wrestler in Sultan
Over the years, Anushka Sharma has wowed us with her feisty performances on-screen. Be it playing a chirpy Punjabi kudi in Band Baaja Baarat or the gutsy Delhi girl who took on some crazy killers in NH10, Anushka has never shied away from any roles.
However, when she was offered to play the wrestler Aarfa in Sultan, Anushka initially had cold feet, as she felt that she did not look like a wrestler.
“Earlier, I was very scared as I don’t look like a wrestler. We have a perception that wrestlers are of a particular size. So initially, I just looked at Aditya Chopra and asked him if he was sure that I could play this character. How will it happen?” revealed Anushka at the trailer launch of her film Sultan, which also stars Salman Khan.
“But then I did some research and I realized that there are some women wrestlers who are tall and lean like me. All I had to do was to look toned and then I could look the part,” said the actress who then played bold and took on the challenge to enact the role of the Haryanvi woman wrestler in the film.
In less than 6 weeks she not only learned to wrestle with real wrestlers but also mastered the Haryanvi dialect for her character.
Well, this firebrand does know how to play bold, what say?
