Here’s why Tusshar Kapoor’s miracle baby will change India...
He has featured in several adult comedies, but this is Tusshar Kapoor’s boldest move yet! On June 27, a very-much-single Tusshar announced to the world the arrival of his son, Laksshya — “a baby boy, born last week through IVF and surrogacy.”
By his own admission, TK is “thrilled beyond words” to “be a father,” adding: “The paternal instincts in me have been overpowering my heart and mind for some time now… By the greatness of God and the excellent medical team at Jaslok (Hospital), parenthood is an option for many, who choose to be single parents.”
While congratulations have poured in from industry buddies including Karan Johar, Esha Gupta, Abhishek Bachchan, filmmakers Sanjay Gupta and Farah Khan (herself a mom of three), Neha Dhupia and Esha Deol; many have lauded it specifically for being a path-breaking decision.
With Divya Dutta calling it “gutsy” and the always-vocal Pritish Nandy branding it “a brave and wonderful decision,” TK’s bold move has been widely met with kudos and applause.
The fact that Bollywood’s big Khans — Aamir and Shah Rukh — have opted for surrogacy in recent years, makes the concept more acceptable. But, as an unmarried man opting for surrogacy, Tusshar has pushed accepted boundaries even further.
“As a public figure, Tusshar’s brave and bold decision will open the field of assisted reproduction, making it accessible to not just single parents, but also to many who fervently desire to have a baby,” says Jaslok Hospital’s Dr. Firuza Parikh. We cannot agree more. While little Laksshya may be Tusshar’s dream come true, this bold move will boost long-cherished dreams for a hundred other hopeful single parents across the country.
