Miss Malini, the lifestyle blogger and head of the website of the same name, is known for giving readers the inside scoop on Bollywood and more. To find out where she parties, we sat down with Malini to pepper her with questions.
What is your idea of a great night out?
Well for me it’s really about the people, so having the right group of people that you can have fun with is important. Going to a nice bar, which has a nice vibe, where the music isn’t super loud, so you can actually get to chatting, especially if there’s new people. And then, I like to go dancing after that, so it’s great to have one place to hop to, and even at 1.30 or 2 am, you don’t want to night to end, so you end up finding a Kitty Su or a Trilogy or somewhere that we can end up.
OK, so what is your favourite party place or nightclub in India?
So different places for different things. Like I love, you know, whether it’s a Social or a Doolally or MRP or all those places for a fun game night - cheap and cheerful. If I want to have a big night out, dancing, then obviously we end up at Trilogy or Kitty Su, we end there a lot because it’s open till late. I really like the music, and the inside, VIP room is really fun. I like the pop-ups as well - like penthouses or you know, something unique that they’re doing. I really like Asilo - you know they’ve started doing this 90s night, which I thought was super fun, (with) all the music we went to high school and college to. I like it when they do something new and unique, like a theme-based party.
What is your favourite whiskey or beverage when you’re out drinking?
I don’t really drink that much whiskey, although recently I’ve discovered some nice whiskey cocktails through Diageo. I like vodka, so I tend to drink a lot of vodka tonic. We accidently made our own drink at brunch one day at San Qi, at the Four Seasons, which is a Champagne Mary - so you replace the vodka with champagne in a bloody Mary, and it’s actually really good.
Last question - what city in India according to you has the best nightlife?
I mean I haven’t seen that many different cities, but I really like Bombay’s nightlife. I have to say, Delhi has really picked up like the Summer House and all of that is amazing. I’ve heard Bangalore is really fun, Pune has a really young crowd, but I would have be partial to Bombay, because there’s the most I’ve gone out.
