‘24’ star Kiefer Sutherland doesn’t care what people think. We’re telling you why that’s a good thing…
Kiefer Sutherland can largely be credited with inspiring Anil Kapoor to produce an Indian version of his hit TV series ‘24’ — but Sutherland is a man of many talents. As an actor, he has won worldwide acclaim, but his passion goes beyond drama. The 49-year-old star has been writing music for years, but the pressure of being seen as an actor trying to launch a singing career has prevented Sutherland from pursuing his passion. Until now, that is.
“There is a reason I waited,” says Sutherland, who is finally ready to release a country solo album. “Now, I just don’t give a s**t!” Adding that “it wouldn’t have been possible” fifteen years ago, Sutherland suggests he needed to have that “come-to-Jesus moment” before committing to a career in music. “Trust me, an actor doing music makes my eyes roll in the back of my head, too,” says the ‘24’ star, “so I can’t blame anyone for thinking that.”
However, people’s perceptions no longer matter to Sutherland, who is happy to perform “one bar at a time,” for those who care to listen. With his singer-songwriter buddy Jude Cole collaborating, we expect Sutherland’s album (titled Down in a Hole) will be a treat. Here’s to another ‘passion to paycheck’ conversion!
